To say it’s been rough and tough the past year is the understatement of the year. We have all been on a rollercoaster once, twice or on repeat. Or maybe a boat in the middle of a storm at sea? Or even going around in circles in a maze so deep? Or it’s just been really a long personal growth journey as we cope with the many world changes happening today. It’s not all blood and scars. I do believe there have been beautiful blessings and eye opening silver linings through this growth journey…. it’s just been quite difficult.
During a particularly quiet, but internally rough week, a good friend of mine shared a piece by writer Aldous Huxley. It resonated with me, deep in my soul. I am passing this on to anyone who may need this reminder to travel light, on tiptoes and no luggage.
“It’s dark because you are trying too hard.
Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly.
Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply.
Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.
There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet,
trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair.
That’s why you must walk so lightly.
Lightly my darling,
on tiptoes and no luggage,
not even a sponge bag,
completely unencumbered.”
